My random thoughts on the world of the blog.

When I started my blog I really didn't know what to expect. Would people actually read it or not?
Over the last couple of weeks I've had loads of feedback on what I've written and quite frankly it's really nice. It intrigues me that people who I don't know personally and who know very little about me are so supportive and friendly in their reactions to my blog.
I know I enjoy reading other peoples blogs and find that I learn alot about so many different things. e.g. mosanmosan's blog got me hooked on youtube, 248am, k.thekuwaiti , forzaq8 and others keep me in touch with interesting things going on in Kuwait, swair, shoush, sou and desertgirlkuwait are a really interesting insight into other people's lives and quite frankly it never fails to surprise me how many people have the same issues going on in their lives.

So thanks for reading and sharing your comments, there will be much more!

Empowerment!

For the first time ever today I managed to suck it up and tell someone that they had pissed me off and why without getting stressed or upset! This is a major milestone for me, whenever dealing with emotional matters I am always a doormat ( not good I know) and find it really hard to express how I feel but today I did it and the person is fuly aware that I deserve better and should be treated with respect!
I think all this Maya Angelou poetry has finally rubbed off!

Anger Management!!!

Perhaps I should have added tolerance of the irritating in my New Academic Year Resolution!
There are some people in this world that are just plain and simple sent to vex us. Unfortunately I am finding certain individuals in my group of friends really trying at the moment. Some people just don't know they are born, even when they have everything they want they still find things to complain about and try to get others to do everything for them.
It is always made harder by the fact that you have to try your hardest to be polite even when they piss you off to the max!
Argh! I am off to tear my hair out- long live baldness!!!!!

Girl Power!!

After reading a Maya Angelou Poem posted on Swair's blog I've gone all girl power and feisty. If you want to learn more about Maya's pretty difficult life read her autobiography called "I know Why the Caged Bird Sings".
Here's another fantasticly empowering poem by the wonderfull Maya Angelou

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.
I'm not cute or built to suit a fashion model's size
But when I start to tell them,
They think I'm telling lies.
I say,
It's in the reach of my arms
The span of my hips,
The stride of my step,
The curl of my lips.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

I walk into a room
Just as cool as you please,
And to a man,
The fellows stand or
Fall down on their knees.
Then they swarm around me,
A hive of honey bees.
I say,
It's the fire in my eyes,
And the flash of my teeth,
The swing in my waist,
And the joy in my feet.
I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Men themselves have wondered
What they see in me.
They try so much
But they can't touch
My inner mystery.
When I try to show them
They say they still can't see.
I say,
It's in the arch of my back,
The sun of my smile,
The ride of my breasts,
The grace of my style.
I'm a woman

Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Now you understand
Just why my head's not bowed.
I don't shout or jump about
Or have to talk real loud.
When you see me passing
It ought to make you proud.
I say,
It's in the click of my heels,
The bend of my hair,
the palm of my hand,
The need of my care,
'Cause I'm a woman
Phenomenally.
Phenomenal woman,
That's me.

Zombification!!!!

Oh my god I am officially a member of the walking dead. Started back to work today after my hols and quite frankly how on earth am I going to survive. I am dead on my feet, it is too hot and I can't cope with early mornings- AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!
Does anyone out there know a quick way to earn tons of cash and do absolutely nothing??? Damn it must find myself a rich husband ASAP! (Only joking, far too much self respect for that but fantastic fantasy).

Song lyrics and sentiments!

There are so many songs out there and so many of them are soppy, depressing and down right crappy! However, there are one or two bands that really have their heads screwed on and give us good old fashioned cheerful music. I hope all of you blog readers have heard of a new band called MIKA who are cheerful and fun. If not get your backsides onto iTunes and download them in a wild and frenzied manner.
Other songs that I love and that are really cheery are:
I am what I am by Gloria Gaynor (I personally firmly bang my own drum)
Fat Bottomed Girls by Queen
Beautiful Day by U2
I'm on my way by The Proclaimers

Long live cheery music!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

Well, who would have thought it some people have actually been reading my blog. I have been posting on here since before the summer and didn't think anyone read my random scribblings but after my last post I've had 3 comments and it seems I am not alone.....
Thanks to those of you that have taken the time to read this!!

I like having a mooch at loads of other blogs and it is really interesting to see what people post, some are about their lives, some about books, some anything that takes their fancy and it's great to see the diversity out there. I tend to read Kuwaiti blogs because I feel I can relate to the people writing them. We live in this tiny country and it is cool to see so much diversity within it. Roll on the big melting pot!!!

To let you guys see which blogs ring my bell I am going to add a blog roll down the side.

New Academic Years Resolution

I am so over running around after men who quite frankly don't give a s*@?t about me or how I feel! Khalas, I'm done!

I am making a list of resolutions and I am going to do my best to stick to them!
1. No more emotional F*@kwits
2. Do all the things I enjoy on a more regular basis
3. Get fit (I know we've all had this as a resolution but I am bloody sticking to it this time)!
4. Be more healthy in my habits!- less booze, bad food etc.
5. Compromise less.
The last one sounds pretty selfish but I have spent most of my life putting other people before myself and quite frankly thats all well and good but too many people now think that I should mould my life to suit them, no more I say!

Did the Earth Move for you too??

Well, I woke up at 1.46am to feel my bed shaking for no apparent reason. I asked my friends if they had felt it and only one had so I checked the USGS website and yes I am not mad, we did have an earthquake last night. A 4.3 on the Richter Scale, which is quite a decent size.

2nd August 1990

Unfortunately, this date can pass us all by too easily, the Invasion of Kuwait was 17 years ago!
There is a very thought provoking poem thats read on ANZAC day in Australia to remember those that died in conflict, this is quite appropriate.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Madness in the UK!

My word, it's been non stop for the past month. I've been all over the UK, somehow managed to miss the flood waters but went to two decidedly damp but fun weddings. It really reminds me why I live in Sunny Kuwait! Only got a few more days before I go home though so I'd better make the most of the nice wine and pork even though it may be soggy!
